Meet Ballie: Your Rolling AI Roommate, Powered by Samsung and Google

Samsung and Google have teamed up to launch Ballie — a rolling, AI-powered home companion that’s part projector, part assistant, and all personality.

Samsung and Google have just taken a major step into the world of consumer robotics — and they’ve done it in style.

After years of teasers and prototypes, the two tech giants have teamed up to launch Ballie, a bright yellow, AI-powered robot companion that’s part butler, part projector, and fully adorable.

Small enough to zip around your living room but smart enough to understand your schedule, habits, and even your mood, Ballie represents a new kind of home assistant — one that actually moves with you and learns as it goes.

The Brain Behind the Bot

Ballie isn’t just a cute robot rolling around — it’s the product of a serious AI collaboration. Powered by Samsung’s Tizen operating system and supercharged by Google Cloud’s Gemini AI, Ballie is built to do more than remind you about your meetings.

With multimodal reasoning, it can analyze and respond to complex cues — think adjusting the lighting when you look tired, reminding you about your workout (that you keep ignoring), or greeting visitors at the door when you're on a call.

Samsung’s own AI models handle personal, real-time tasks like weather updates and syncing with your data, while Google’s Gemini tech gives Ballie the muscle to understand, reason, and even hold a natural conversation.

“We’re unlocking a new era of personalized AI companionship,” said Yongjae Kim, EVP at Samsung. “One that moves with users and anticipates their needs.”

Rolling Into the Future

Aside from being charmingly mobile, Ballie is also equipped to entertain — literally. It can project videos onto walls or ceilings from apps like YouTube, Netflix, and Samsung TV Plus, essentially turning any room into a makeshift theater.

The robot will also serve as an all-in-one smart home controller, helping users manage lights, devices, schedules, and reminders through casual, conversational commands. And yes, it speaks both emoji and empathy.

This launch marks Samsung and Google’s first real step into the consumer robotics market, joining the likes of Meta, Apple, and a growing field of startups betting big on home-friendly robots.

So, When Can You Get One?

After years of development delays, Samsung says Ballie will officially roll into homes this summer.

And while pricing hasn’t been announced yet, one thing’s for sure — this isn’t just another gadget.

It’s a charming little symbol of where AI is headed: more mobile, more personal, and a whole lot more fun.
